Therapy Offered

Lymphedema Therapy

Lymphedema refers to swelling that generally occurs in one of your arms or legs. Sometimes both arms or both legs swell.

Lymphedema is most commonly caused by the removal of or damage to your lymph nodes as a part of cancer treatment. It results from a blockage in your lymphatic system, which is part of your immune system. The blockage prevents lymph fluid from draining well, and the fluid buildup leads to swelling.

While there is presently no cure for lymphedema, it can be managed with early diagnosis and diligent care of your affected limb.

LSVT Big Exercise

LSVT BIG trains people with Parkinson disease (PD) to use their body more normally. People living with PD or other neurological conditions often move differently, with gestures and actions that become smaller and slower. They may have trouble with getting around, getting dressed and with other activities of daily living.

LSVT BIG effectively trains improved movements for any activity, whether “small motor” tasks like buttoning a shirt or “large motor” tasks like getting up from sofa or chair or maintaining balance while walking. The treatment improves walking, self-care and other tasks by helping people “recalibrate” how they perceive their movements with what others actually see. It also teaches them how and when to apply extra effort to produce bigger motions – more like the movements of everyone around them.

Vestibular Therapy

Inner ear (vestibular) balance therapy is an exercise program designed by specially trained therapists to help you compensate for a loss or imbalance within the vestibular system.

Joint Replacement Therapy

Physical therapy and occupational therapy play a key role in the rehabilitation of people who have received a total joint replacement of the knee, hip, or shoulder. Joint replacement physical therapy can also benefit people who are limited in their daily lives due to joint pain from all types of arthritis.

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy can be helpful for the treatment of joints that lack adequate mobility and range of motion in certain musculo-skeletal conditions. This limitation can cause discomfort, pain, and an alteration in function, posture, and movement. Manual physical therapy involves restoring mobility to stiff joints and reducing muscle tension in order to return the patient to more natural movement without pain.

Thus, manual physical therapy may provide back pain relief both for patients with chronic back pain involving joint problems, such as sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and acute back pain from soft tissue injuries such as a back muscle strain or a pulled back ligament. Although extensive clinical studies have yet to be performed on all areas of manual therapy, limited clinical data and patient reports support the assertion that manual physical therapy can be effective in relieving back pain for certain patients.

Program Offered

Stroke Program

Stroke is a medical emergency that requires immediate attention. In the United States, about 800,000 people each year suffer a stroke and approximately two-thirds of these individuals survive and require rehabilitation. The goals of rehabilitation are to optimize how the person functions after a stroke and the level of independence, and to achieve the best possible quality of life.

Neurological Program

Neurological rehabilitation (rehab) is a doctor-supervised program designed for people with diseases, injury, or disorders of the nervous system. Neurological rehab can often improve function, reduce symptoms, and improve the well-being of the patient.

Amputee Program

The Amputee Program provides an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to evaluate, rehabilitate and support people with amputations. We specialize in individualizing care and creating a patient-centered treatment plan. We actively serve the community by collaborating with primary care physicians, pediatricians, sports medicine doctors, schools, coaches, athletic trainers and parents.

Back Therapy Program

Although common, back pain is often misunderstood and left untreated. We continue to develop and train a multitude of Physical Therapists with specific, hands-on skills to provide the most optimal patient outcome. This hands-on technique is often referred to as manual therapy. Our Back Pain Specialists reduce symptoms, identify and treat the source of pain. We believe in providing specificity of care for all conditions and ensure every treatment session is valuable.

Hand Therapy Program

The Arms and Hands Ability Clinic is designed to focus on improving the function of arms, hands & fingers. It houses latest therapeutic technologies like Arm Robot – The Armeo Spring, Hand Robot – The Hope of Hand, Functional Electrical Stimulation, EMG-Biofeedback & other assistive technologies along with detailed and customized hands-on rehab protocols.
